A Revelation for All of Us

Slaw readers should catch up on this wonderful piece from Peter Mansbridge and the CBC National on an amazing new technology called Internet.

No longer merely a science story, the internet is described as a “phenomenon,” a “revolution,” and “modulated anarchy.” Bill Cameron looks at the internet’s cultural impact.

Then there is Telidon, which will replace newspapers and Canada Post one day.

A classic of scientific journalism, and a revelation for all of us.

  1. When Emma Wood picked up on this last week, via the Torontoist, I commented on her blog that ‘I was the third guy from the left with a 2400 baud modem’. I love that this video is making the rounds. The video’s pretty funny (now), and worth checking out.

  2. I LOVE that National report. My favourite part is the absence of the word “the” when decribing internet, however the “the” does appear near the end of the piece. And now to indicate that I am serious about loving that piece :(

  3. I can’t get over how Bill Cameron looks the same now as then. 8-(

  4. Oh poor Connie, that’s a little tactless. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2005/03/12/cameron050312.html
But he was a great journalist.
