Thomson Nelson Sold

Via Quillblog: As part of the selling off that’s being going on at Thomson, the educational publisher, Thomson Nelson, has been sold to Apax Partners and OMERS Capital Partners, the former an American company, the latter a Canadian pension plan provider. The story is on PR Newswire.

Thomson Nelson has a substantial list of books aimed at paralegals.

  1. They do have a lot of books for paralegals Simon but viturally all of them are published by Delmar, one of Thomson’s US companies. Presumably the OMERS majority ownership of Thomson Nelson has to do with Investment Canada rules which would prevent (or are supposed to prevent) foreign takeovers of Canadian owned firms. It would have been interesting to see what “Canada’s New Government” might have done had Thomson tried to sell Nelson to Apax along with the rest of Thomson Learning businesses.
