One of the highlights of this year's CALL conference was the presentation by Darlene Fichter on Web 2.0 which kicked off our conference program Monday morning. I was privileged to introduce Darlene, who is Coordinator of the Data Library Services at the University of Saskatchewan and Advisor on Emerging Technologies, as well as consultant and project manager on various website, portal, library and intranet projects. Her talk was delightful. These slides which she posted to Slideshare for us only partially capture her lively presentation.
I love those gophers! During her presentation Darlene identified that about half the law library folk in the audience are reading us here at Slaw and, when asking who the "advance scouts" are for Web 2.0, the audience indicated that Slaw fills this role in the legal research community.
Legalpubs.ca & Legalvoices.com in the same presentation is very flattering. I really wish I could have been there.

Connie – Thanks for the kind words. I had a lot of fun with this talk and also preparing. Thanks to lots of law librarians who answered my emails and to you for taking time to talk to me.
During my preparation, I want you to know that SLAW came up many times as the place to look and see what law librarians were doing with Web 2.0 technologies.
It was wonderful to see that more than half of the audience were SLAW readers and saw SLAW as providing leadership for emerging technologies. Hats off to the SLAW contributors and keep up the great work.

Heather – it was great to see how you had identified areas in the firm where wikis were a good fit. The article that describes what you did and how you started is really useful for providing examples of how wikis can work in in practice from providing one place to look for articling students and capturing questions and answers to create a knowledge base that can be used from year to year and partly developed by the students. I can also see librarians creating and adding short screencasts with tips and best practices for accessing legal info resources and services in the firm.
