Ted Tjaden Featured as One to Watch

Congratulations to Ted Tjaden who is featured in the Autumn 2011 issue of University of Toronto Faculty of Information alumni magazine Informed article "Alumni to Watch." He also graces the cover.

The article traces Ted's career from practicing lawyer in B.C. to library student at the Faculty of Information (now known as the iSchool) at the University of Toronto, to law librarian at the Bora Laskin Law Library at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law and adjunct professor for the Faculty of Information, and finally to his current position as National Director of Knowledge Management at McMillan LLP.

From the article:

While law librarianship is considered to be one of the most ‘stressful’ branches of librarianship, Ted refers to it instead as “challenging and ever changing.”

While the article does mention Ted's teaching and books The Law of Independent Legal Advice and Legal Research and Writing, what perhaps does not come out is the influence Ted has had on Canadian legal research, law librarianship and law firm knowledge management, how he has acted as teacher and guide to so many of us who work in this area over the last 15 years. He also currently sits as Treasurer on the Executive Board of the Canadian Association of Law Libraries (CALL/ACBD).

Again, congrats to my fellow law librarian and Slaw contributor for the well-deserved recognition!

Connie is the principal of Crosby Group Consulting and is also a law librarian, writer, teacher and speaker specializing in social media, knowledge management and information management. She is author of the book "Effective Blogging for Libraries" part of the award-winning Tech Set published by Neal-Schuman in 2010.
