On December 15, 2011, Quebec’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General Jean-Marc Fournier announced the filing of a draft regulation aimed at making the Gazette officielle du Québec available free of charge on the Internet.
The “Gazette” provides the province’s official government record of proposed regulations, proclamations and other statutory notices, as well as private sector notices that are required by statute to be published in the Gazette officielle du Québec .
It’s a valuable source of information for the legal profession as well as any Quebec citizen.
A consultation period of 45 days is required before the regulation is adopted. Once adopted, Publications du Québec [1] will provide free access to parts 1 and 2 of the Gazette officielle du Québec on their website. It will also change the price of the paper based annual subscription as well as fees for notices, advertisements and documents published in Parts 1 and 2 of the Gazette officielle du Québec.
It’s about time. Just saying!
