About John Gillies

John is the Director of Practice Support at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP. He collaborates with all firm members to enhance the culture of knowledge-sharing through building appropriate organizational and technical structures. Formerly, he was the director of knowledge management at McCarthy Tétrault, senior counsel at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and a banking law associate at McCarthy & McCarthy. Immediately after his call to the bar in 1977, John studied French law at the Sorbonne and worked for a French law firm. John has presented at numerous Canadian and American conferences on knowledge management and legal drafting issues. He plays baroque cello and jazz piano.
