Slaw's "Canadian Legal Blogs"
This Google Custom Search Engine queries 249 Canadian law blogs, drawn from the list available at Steve Matthews' Canadian Law Blogs List as it stood on November 9, 2010. Because Google CSE doesn't offer a way to rank results by date — something that makes sense where blogs are concerned — I've enabled you to restrict yourself to more or less recent posts. And you can also choose whether you want 10, 20, 50, or 100 results per page.
The results will show up on a new, Google page. I'm still trying to figure out the way to have the results of a search show up on a page of my own making. (The difficulty comes in part from the fact that I've used a form of search that let me add the variables discussed above.)
I'm also looking into ways that you might turn a search into an RSS feed, another feature that Google has had difficulty implementing.
Please feel free to send me your suggestions or comments. If I'm missing your blog, you should let Steve Matthews know. I'll update this CSE on a more or less regular basis from his list.
UPDATE:
I've been asked if bloggers may embed this search box in their own sites. I'm more than happy for them to do that. Indeed, I may locate a version on the front page of Slaw. To make it more portable, I've created a somewhat trimmer version of the feature, an image of which you see below. The code then follows. Simply click in the text area and select the entire code there; copy it and paste it into an appropriate place in your site. We ask that you leave in place the reference to Slaw's 'Canadian Legal Blogs'.
