Public Legal Education Webinars
PLEI Connect recently began a new series of public legal education webinars, some topics in English and others in French. For those not familiar, “PLEI Connect is a project to help organizations across Canada identify and share technology tools to effectively deliver public legal education and information (PLEI) services.”
PLEI Connect is a multi-jurisdiction, team initiative of CLEO, Éducaloi, PovNet, and Courthouse Libraries BC. It originated only a couple of years ago at the Just a Click Away conference. A look at a bit about PLEI Connect shows how these fine organizations share defined responsibilities for the project. From the PLEI Connect site:
About PLEI Connect
PLEI Connect is a project to help organizations across Canada identify and share technology tools to effectively deliver public legal education and information (PLEI) services. The PLEI Connect project team is made up of Community Legal Education Ontario www.cleo.on.ca, Éducaloi www.educaloi.qc.ca, PovNet http://povnet.org and Courthouse Libraries BC www.courthouselibrary.ca.
PLEI Connect is supported with funding from the Access to Justice Fund, administered by the Law Foundation of Ontario and from the Department of Justice Canada.
In this week’s series, an English webinar on mobile technologies and public legal education was presented Tuesday. Wednesday morning saw a French session on social media and PLEI (la vulgarisation et l’information juridique dans les médias sociaux). “Web labs” next week will allow participants to explore each topic in more detail.
The webinars are already archived. And for those who are intrigued by next week’s web labs but missed the webinars, those archives are requisite preparatory viewing.
Earlier series of PLEI Connect webinars and events are likewise archived and available for viewing or download.
