About John Gillies
John is Vice-President, Content, with KMStandards, a library of standard contracts, checklists, and clauses. He has practiced law for over 35 years and been engaged in knowledge management for more than 15 years, first as Director of KM at McCarthy Tetrault and then as Director of Practice Support at Cassels Brock. Before entering the KM field, John had been a banking associate at a large Canadian firm and then spent 15 years in-house with CIBC. With a law degree from the University of Toronto, he also holds a Master's degree from the Sorbonne in French corporate and commercial law.
John is a frequent speaker and writer on issues of knowledge management and legal drafting, He has spoken at conferences of ILTA (International Legal Technology), the Ark Group, and the Canadian Bar Association.
In his spare time, John plays piano in the Under the Stairs jazz quartet and also plays cello with two Toronto-based early music organizations.
