About Colin Lachance

Founder and Executive Director of Legal Innovation Data Institute. Founder and CEO of Compass, former General Manager for North America of global legal publisher, vLex, and former President and CEO of the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII). A now non-practising lawyer, he is also a frequent speaker and business advisor on legal info and legal tech matters. First called to the bar in 1998 (Alberta) and then again in 2004 (Ontario), Colin has a professional background in senior legal, policy, business and government relations roles in the telecommunications industry. An average and unimpressive student in all his schooling, he added an LL.M. in 2013 to the degrees in business and law obtained in the bloom of youth.
