About Gary P. Rodrigues
Gary P. Rodrigues is a publishing industry consultant, advising both private sector and government, and a columnist for slaw.ca, Canada's online legal magazine. He has had extensive experience at the senior executive level at LexisNexis Canada, a division of Reed Elsevier, and at Carswell, a Thomson Reuters Company. Reid Elsevier and Thomson Reuters are the two global leaders in providing legal, tax and financial information to legal and business professionals.
Gary has also played a leading role in the publishing industry at large, first as President of the Canadian Publishers Council, the trade for multi-national publishers in Canada, and then as the Co- Chair of The Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency (Access Copyright), the collective mandated to licence the intellectual property rights of creators and publishers.
Gary's professional formation was as a lawyer. He is a graduate in History and Law of the University of Western Ontario and a member of the Ontario Bar. His interest in human rights led to his involvement in monitoring elections in war-torn countries such as Namibia and Bosnia as part of the international efforts to establish democratic governments in these countries.
