Without much in the way of overt hoopla, the Law Library of Congress today launched seven video podcasts of lectures and presentations on matters of current interest. The link to the Itunes site is here.

The topics covered are:

Legislating in Heels–An Anecdotal Journal: The Honorable Constance "Connie" Morella 1:09:03

Legal Challenges Facing NATO at 60 1:41:21

The Approach of the Halakah and Sharia' to Contemporary Legal Issues 1:33:14

Law Day 2009: Emancipation Proclamation 1:20:10

Human Environment Challenges, Domestic and International – a Talk by Barry Hill 1:00:52

Looking Beyond Gitmo: U.S. and Foreign Approaches Toward Legal Treatment of Terrorist Suspects 1:42:11

For Slaw readers, the most interesting piece is likely to be R.M. Dworkin on:

Is There Truth in Interpretation? Law, Literature, and History 1:07:10

Simon Chester's involvement with legal information goes back to the Seventies when he taught legal research at Osgoode Hall and served on CLIC's board - that was the Canadian Law Information Council. He has practiced law on Bay Street for almost thirty years and speaks and writes widely on legal, technology, ethical and professional issues.

3 Comments on “Law Library of Congress Launches Video Podcasts”

  1. Podcasts are generally in a series. And especially since it is being syndicated through iTunes, do you think we should expect future episodes?

  2. The syndication suggests that they'll regard this as another method of outreach. Haven't looked at the video. Most law school lectures I've looked at on Podcasts are ludicrously badly miked and recorded.

  3. Wendy Reynolds says:

The Library of Congress has quite an impressive collection of lectures and other presentations on i-Tunes (an possibly elsewhere). It's astounding how much quality content is available.
