Deep Linking Google Video

Google Blogoscoped says you can deep link into a specific part of a Google Video clip by tacking an anchor on the link url, ex: #1m35s

Interesting, we skipped right over doing this for audio files. Any thoughts? I can see how deep linking into a podcast episode would be useful.

  1. Steve,

I noticed your posting about Google’s mid-video linking feature, and thought your readers might want to hear about a more robust solution.

My company, veotag (www.veotag.com), has a new service that enables anyone to add clickable text to just about any video (or audio file) on the Web.

For a sample, please go to http://www.veotag.com/jalc and select any of the programs listed. You’ll see the video start to play, and the clickable text will appear right next to it (works well with Windows Media Player and IE6 or better).

With veotag, audio and video producers can describe for their audiences what’s inside a video or audio file and let them click directly to parts they want, eliminating a lot of frustration.

The basic service is free. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

    Thanks,
    Howard

  2. Howard –

Service looks impressive. Two cents worth: it would be great to have an upfront, table, side-by-side comparison of the free v. paid versions of your veotag service and also of the fees involved for the paid services. I (and I suspect a good number of people) much prefer up-front transparency rather than having to signup to have more info, etc… Just a suggestion.
