Web Page Construction for the Rest of Us
Remember that name – it’s a great site that permits drag and drop web site construction. You can build a website without knowing one character of HTML.
It’s the brainchild of Lex Arquette and Jeremiah Grossman, whom Slaw readers will know from WhiteHat Security.
Roxer for free has its limitations. The beta pricing for the subscribed version is $7 per month.
Some background from the FAQs:
What is Roxer?
Roxer takes a new approach to making web pages, based on the idea that you should never have to bother with code. With Roxer anyone can make visually stunning and fully functional web pages online using only a web browser. Editing is even easier. To rearrange your content, just click and drag items where you want them. To change your text, just click and type. To move content from one page to another, just copy and paste. Best of all, you will be doing these things to your web page from your web page.
What are some of Roxer’s key features?
* Edit in place – To edit a web page you go directly to it in your web browser and make changes on the spot.
* Click & Drag – Everything on your web page can be dragged into place with your mouse.
* “WebClipboard” – Copy & Paste any content from one web page to another.
* Rich Text Editing – Adjust font face, style, color, size, and alignment.
* Layering – Stack content to get unique visual effects
* Live image resizing – Images can be shrunken or enlarged
* Browser-based – No special software, nothing to download. All works in your web browser.

Smart idea. I’m curious to know if it produces sound HTML, I know of many people who want to use Word and FrontPage to create simple websites but they can both cause havoc down the road. For smaller projects, team sites and event pages this might be just the tool that people need to get started.
Where I would caution people on this product is in the areas of online publicity and long-term support. If your goal is to be seen on every search engine out there a setup like this will likely have some limitations.
