About Heather Neun

Heather Neun, BA, MPhil, JD, LLM, has over three decades of international human rights monitoring and advocacy experience. Her first involvement was as a field volunteer with Peace Brigades International (PBI), accompanying at-risk human rights organizations and defenders in Guatemala. Heather is a board member with PBI-Canada and with Lawyers’ Rights Watch Canada (LRWC), and she serves as LRWC's Colombia monitor. Since 2012, she has participated in five delegations to Colombia through the International Caravana of Jurists, a project that accompanies lawyers and other legal professionals and human rights defenders who are at risk due to their advocacy. She took part in an international emergency mission to Colombia in July 2021 to monitor the state’s repressive response to sustained protests throughout the country. Heather’s engagement with the Inter-American human rights system includes litigation and advocacy in connection with petitions filed before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights against Canada, Colombia and Mexico.
