About Nate Russell

Nate Russell is Legal and Innovation Counsel for Courthouse Libraries BC (CLBC), where he serves as in-house counsel and privacy officer. He is a key point of contact for the legal profession and manages several programs that rely on collaboration with lawyers and others within the justice sector, including Clicklaw Wikibooks (which publishes legal texts for the public), and Lawbster (a community platform for BC legal professionals). He has developed, presented, and hosted various CPD programs in connection with CLBC and other CLE providers, often with a focus on the overlap between law, technology, privacy, and information management. Nate worked as a family lawyer and civil litigator before joining CLBC in 2010, and became a certified privacy professional with IAPP in 2021 (CIPP/C) . Prior to law, he cut his teeth working in internet and traditional media as a writer and communications consultant, including CBC Television in Vancouver. He is a 2005 graduate of Dalhousie Law School.
