Canadians Are Heavy Internet Users
The CBC reports on a Canadian Internet Project study that suggests Canadians are heavy users of the Internet with 56 per cent of all Canadians are online at least seven hours a week, with the average Canadian user online 13.5 hours each week.
Thanks Ted.
I found this result particularly interesting, and rather encouraging:
“”Internet users appear to engage more in some traditional media activities than do non-users, including reading books, listening to music and using the cell phone,” the study said.” [quote is from the cbc article linked in Ted’s post]
Interesting because “using the cell phone” appears to be listed among “traditional media activities” :) and encouraging because perhaps it suggests our students will not abandon traditional (i.e. print) secondary sources in place of Internet use. At least not without our ongoing prodding… :)
