Introducing Darlene Fichter

You might already be familiar with Darlene Fichter, but if you’re not, I think she’s someone you should know about. Since I’m the lone Saskatchewan Slaw contributor for the time being, I think it’s high time I promoted some local talent.

Several years ago, I attended an “Introduction to blogging workshop” at which Darlene presented. She is a front-runner in all things to do with libraries and technology. In fact, Darlene was one of Library Journal’s 2002 Movers & Shakers: The People Who Are Shaping the Future of Libraries.

Darlene Fichter is Data Library Coordinator at the University of Saskatchewan Library. Since 1991, she has managed dozens of digital library, Internet, intranet, and extranet projects. Darlene is particularly interested in human-computer interaction, collaboration and KM, social software including blog and wikis, online learning, metadata and digital libraries. In addition to speaking at library and IT conferences, she is also the owner of the web design and consulting company Northern Lights Internet Solutions, Ltd. You can read a little more about her at the Special Libraries Assocation. There’s a 2002 interview with her available at Ex Libras.

Darlene’s website displays her blog content in the left column, hence her blog’s title, Blog on the Side. You might want to add it to your feed reader.
