Paris Hilton and BIALL

For me, any information about Paris HiltonBTW any encyclopedia that claims to match Brittanica and has articles like this has a wondrous sense of irony. is too much information.

Too Much Information! BIALL 2007 Conference Call For Papers

‘Too Much Information!’ is the theme for the 38th BIALL Annual Study Conference and Exhibition which will take place Sheffield City Hall, Thursday 14th – Saturday 16th June 2007. BIALL has issued a call for papers.

The central theme is information overload, a major concern throughout the profession and a problem for all those we serve. How can we help them to assimilate all the information we are able to place on their desks or desktops? How can we improve our own ability to process and use information? There will also be opportunities to examine other important issues and innovations in the world of legal information. Potential topics include:

* Collection development policies (including collections of last resort);

* Blogs, RSS feeds and wikis;

* Practical aspects of stock control (retention/disposal);

* Developing current awareness services;

* Library design (maximising space);

* The role of the academic law library in supporting research;

* Information flow in various sectors (e.g. court/government);

* How to present electronic resources to users (e.g. effective web/intranet design).

The BIALL Conference Committee will consider proposals for papers on the basis of abstracts. An abstract should be between 250 and 500 words long, providing a clear idea of the content of the presentation, an indication of its target audience, and an opinion as to whether it is best suited to a plenary or parallel session. The abstract should be accompanied by a short biography, ideally between 150 and 200 words long, outlining relevant professional experience, publications, and papers delivered at previous conferences, seminars or training events.

Informal enquiries can be made to the Chair of the Conference Committee, Elaine Bird, at ebird@wssociety.co.uk or by telephoning 0131 225 0659. Examples of previous programmes, speaker biographies and session synopses can be viewed at http://www.biall.org.uk/home.asp under conferences.

Abstracts should be submitted to the Conference Committee electronically at ebird@wssociety.co.uk.

Closing date for submission: 30th September 2006
