iTunes Removes DRM
Apple has announced that the iTunes Digital Rights Management (DRM) software attached to downloaded songs will now be removed. I am unclear whether this is the existing service “new and improved”, or if this is set up as a new, separate service since it is being branded as “Tame the Web, guest blogger Eric Whitfield discusses the changes at more length in Down With DRM.
Joseph Thornley blogged about the cost difference between Canada and the U.S. (Canadians are being gouged!) and check out the first comment by prominent podcaster Bob Goyetche — he says that tracks without DRM will have personal information embedded, thus just another form of DRM.
