Turkey Day

As we sit down, in Canada, to honour the Great Turkey in the sky, and we recall Columbo’s place in the litany, let us not forget the distinction between the butterball turkey, the wild turkey and Wild Turkey, and let us intone, in unison, the immortal words of WKRP’s Athur Carlson:

“As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”

  1. Thank you for the WKRP reminder, David. It was one of my favourite sitcoms ever. I was just reading up about it on Wikipedia – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WKRP_in_Cincinnati. Under music licensing it talks about the challenges faced when they syndicated the show for reruns, and currently are trying to create the DVD. The original show had original popular music of the time licensed for only 10 years. The syndicated version used dubbed sound-alike music. I wonder if a show like this could even be made today?
