Audio Search

Lawyers often need to know what people are saying. This became apparent to me today when gathering material for sentencing submissions and I was asked to gather material on the scope of publication of the offence.

I looked at the usual suspects:

During my peek I found a couple of text articles on radio station websites. I know that Slaw readers will share my Ah Ha moment.

The web is filled with different types of media, including streaming audio. Yahoo Audio Search led me to some sites and methods to carry out my task, and voila, audio files were found.

I realize this is somewhat anecdotal, but I hope that my little research Ah Ha helps you out.

  1. Nexidia is one of the few solutions out there aimed at law firms tasked with the onerous job of reviewing audio files for litigation purposes. Not free (far from it, in fact), but a good option when you’re faced with lots and lots of audio and the need to effectively search it without listening to every single minute (or having it transcribed).

  2. Many thanks Debbie. This would be great for identified audio files, or recordings that were known to exist.

Anyone know of an equivalent to search for the audio files that are out in the web?
