The Friday Fillip
Sometimes — or more often — it’s hard to let go of that gravitas thing that stops you from floating off into complete and perfect silliness. But it’s a Friday in August, clients are all on holiday, and no one’s looking: it’s time for something completely different. And really quite silly.
Who better to bring you this than Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy, Vampire Slayer? Now he’s back and he’s bad! Hell, he’s Dr. Horrible. Thanks to the TV writers’ strike, Whedon was prompted to write a three part movie series for the internet. Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is the awful fruit of his efforts.
The first episode is available free at the link above. And when you’re hooked — and when no one is looking — you can download the other two episodes from the iTunes Store (at $2.99 a pop) for your delectation.

For something else silly, try a letter sent to Roger Ebert this week, on the breeding of M&Ms…
Simon, all of the episodes are actually available for free, if you head over to Hulu (http://www.hulu.com). So you don’t even have to pay for the guilty pleasure.
Would that it were so, Tom. Hulu, alas, isn’t available to Canadians. Somehow, the free episode bypasses the US-only restrictions.
But thanks for the suggestion.
They had the site open for a few days when we could watch the episodes for free, but I only managed to watch the first one. It was great fun, though, and I hope to watch the others sometime! Some recognizable actors in there, too. Definitely a step above your average YouTube fare.
