About Rowena Johnson

Rowena Johnson serves as the Copyright Officer at the University of Calgary, where she leads the copyright team and provides strategic guidance and education on copyright matters to faculty, staff, and students. She oversees the development and implementation of institutional copyright policies, procedures, and compliance measures. In addition to her role at the university, Rowena is a Visiting Program Officer for Copyright and Other Public Policy Matters with the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL). In this capacity, she contributes to national advocacy efforts, develops communications and policy briefs, and creates resources addressing copyright, accessibility, privacy, and related public policy issues. Her work supports balanced copyright legislation that upholds both creator and user rights and enables research libraries to provide access to critical scholarly materials.
