Your geography is off by half the State of California. This particular Cannery Row seems to be in San Diego.

Where does the San Diego reference come from?
According to the writer of the post Simon C mentioned, the writer was perched above the Monterey Peninsula’s Monterey Bay, which does put him/her in the vicinity of Steinbeck’s Cannery Row. The poster’s line, in part, at his/her “What About Clients” site is:
That’s, of course, assuming the next big one hasn’t hit California, we’ve not lost half the state, the Monetery Bay isn’t still just off of the Monterey Peninsula, and I should be buying sea-front property in Idaho.

Ah the controversies we prompt. I just remember seeing this image back in the Eighties, and there is at least one website that suggests my geography was not too fuddled by the wine on the peninsula.

I did not notice that the particular post was made by a Holden Oliver. JD Hull who is identified as the blog owner is in San Diego.
Apparently Holden Oliver is in the vicinity mentioned. Yet, I can find no evidence of the existence of Holden Oliver outside the JD Hull blog, What About Clients. Perhaps it is a nom de plume
Just noticed this chain from 10 weeks ago. Explanation: people these days move around a lot. E.g., I am in San Diego about 30% of the time. And Holden is a real person.
