RockMelt Rocking the Social Web

Twitter is full of messages about the latest shiny toy launched today: RockMelt. This is a new browser (currently in beta) that incorporates easy access to the social web. RockMelt is a startup backed by Netscape founder Marc Andreessen (you remember Netscape, don’t you?).

I haven’t tried it out yet, and may wait on it. I’m hesitant to sign up for the beta test because they ask to connect to our Facebook account. Well, I guess I would need to connect *all* my social web passwords to it to make it useful. But, as you know vendors who connect to a Facebook account have access to that account. While it looks fun and efficient, I think I’ll wait to see if this thing is here to stay before signing up.
