Okay, I’ve been silent about this for a few weeks now but it continues to fester within me. The McGill guide 6th ed. is out and Ibid’ing a Supra is now fully proper. I know that many will rejoice but I feel that it is wrong and lazy. The footnote should have a one to one relationship with the original cite, not a one to two to three to the original, when I am reading a paper (online or not) I don’t want to have to go hunting for the actual cite.

Yesterday’s Federal Register has a notice that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Headquarters Library will close its doors to walk-in patrons and vistors on October 1, 2006. The notice provides further details on how the public can obtain EPA documents held in the Headquarters Library collection and in electronic format.
The following reasons/trends are given as to why the EPA is changing the delivery of its library services to the public:
-more and more materials are available online and electronically
-tighter security at Federal facilities
-physical visits by the public to the EPA Headquarters Library are declining

WorldLII latest newsletter is out. Quite a bit from the antipodes. And from CanLII news that they now have decisions of the Ontario Grievance Settlement Board and the Ontario
Public Service Grievance Board, as well as the Nova Scotia Small Claims Court. It’s good to see that “small” matters are being taken seriously by CanLII: if anyone needed free access to decisions, it’s the people who turn to these bodies. CanLII also now has Yukon legislation.
